A Strange Attraction to Strangeness

I just finished watching EVAN ALMIGHTY and am currently reading TWILIGHT. Mom thinks I am soaking in as much of the world as I can before I leave. I don't see why some people are so stupid and weird about Twilight. I mean, maybe it is about vampires, but it's not. Well, I can't say too much for certain, I'm only on page 221. I wasn't going to read the book, honest. But then it was there, right in front of me, and I knew I had to read it. Well, I guess I just really wanted to. But what I think is interesting is that no matter WHAT I do, Mom and Dad always find something about my life and lifestyle to complain about. I spend too much time on the computer; I'm lazy; I read too much; I stay up too late; I waste too much time; among another million other things. Well, I just watched the shallow preview of Twilight and now am attached to it so, so I must go into my room and read it. I think I am attracted to strangeness.

Reasons people come into your life

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season. LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

One Thing Led to Another, Really Feeling Loved

Ok, so I was going to post an entry on May 16th, but that never happened. But this is what I was going to say, or something similarly the same.

That Thursday night changed everything. Well, not everything, just a few things. I discovered that I really did enjoy playing mini golf. And it was totally fun with great people: Craig, Shane, Tony, and Marianne. But it's more about who you're with rather then what you're doing. That's something I've also learned from the Five Love Languages; which all of you should read because it's super cool! I read the one aimed towards singles, it's called, "The Five Love Languages for Singles." I think the first time I heard of those, was when I was at my friends' house, Ashley, and the missionaries were over and they were talking about that book. Huh, that was a while ago. Anyways, I had a lot of fun that night at Singles. And I do like playing mini golf, when we're having fun and getting to know each other :) I know I said it wasn't my favorite thing to do but I would do it anyways. Well now I like it a lot but I'll gladly play now!!!

I am feeling very grand right now. And I think there are a number of reasons as to why. I also believe that I may have been a little low on Thursday and Friday, but now I feel that I am back to my normal level of happiness.

It's funny how one views themselves. Other people may think or believe that I'm a quiet goody goody who does everything right and I never get sad, I'm shy, and a million other things that I don't know how to put down. I think we all view ourselves very different than everyone else views us. For instance, what I think is a great picture of me, may not be a glamorous shot, and I will probably be looking silly or funny. This picture below is a great picture of me because it is me. I see myself when I look at that picture, me, the way I view myself.
This is the me that I like. Me being silly. Which is totally me :) Not a lot of people get to see this real me. What a shame, for it is far better then the me I pretend to be. I think the reason we don't always show our true selves to every person we meet is because I think we're afraid to get hurt. I wish I and everyone else as well, could just be themselves! Just be YOU!!! I remember when I was in high school and Becky told me to not worry and to just be me because I have a lot to share and I would be selfish by not sharing myself with others. I WANT to be me! I want those I interact with know who Megan DeVocht is. The real me. The real deal :) Ok, I remember last summer I was at a YSA fireside. I remember just talking and eating food and having fun. We had an excellent lesson. Then afterwards, a guy, who is now a friend of mine, came up to me and handed me this little piece of paper with his phone number on it. I asked him if he usually gives out his number to people. He said, no just you. I asked him why. He said that he thought I was a cool person and I can't remember what else he said. But do you know what was the coolest of it all? It was that I'd never really talked to him at any of the other YSA activities before, and then now he says this. It later hit me that I was just being me and he was attracted to that. It also opened my eyes to this: Be yourself ALL the time. If you're off trying to be someone else, the people who will like and love you the most won't be able to find you because you're trying to be someone else. Besides, if we all tried to be like everyone else, life would be blah. Take an orchestra for example: It sounds so beautiful because there are many different kinds of instruments and they're all playing their own part. If all the cellos starting sounding just like the violins, it would sound horrible! I stumbled upon this website and have really enjoyed it. This is the link: http://www.ehow.com/ I found something pretty cool on it that goes right along with what I'm talking about right now. This is what they said; "Feel positive about yourself, don't get frustrated and have fun. Remember, the real goal is to find someone who will like you for who you are." I think that's what I've been trying to say all this time.
Below are pictures of me that I took of myself. But these are no glamor shots, these are pictures of me, the real me, the way I see myself, and the way I wish I could be all or most of the time. Instead of being this phony Megan that I don't really know who she is. Here are the totally and awesome pictures of me being me. Enjoy!

This picture reminds me of my friend Adam. It's something he would both laugh at and do! :)

I like to be silly. I don't always like being an adult, meaning being serious and totally mature all the time. Sometimes it's fun to be a kid. The last YSA dance I went to and it probably will be the last one I go before my mission :( was a BLAST!!! Give us cheap little toys and we can have a lot of fun. Balloons make us happy and giddy! I do like having fun as an adult because there's more to do and more interaction with the people you're around and more relationship building to do then we when were kids. I like doing spontaneous things. I like to dare myself to be more social and confident and bold. I like to talk, a lot. I like to talk about what's going on in my life, but deeper. I'm a deep thinker so I like to talk about deep things. Like things I've learned, which is a lot and could go on for hours and hours. I like to be around people. My primary love language is quality time, listening. That means, that if I talk and talk and talk and talk, and you're just sitting there listening and you think you're being horrible because you haven't said anything, don't worry. I love to know that someone is listening and hearing what I am saying. I love it when people are patient and let me talk to them, maybe even for hours :) I love to talk about what's going on inside of me, my feelings and anything else. I do like to talk of other things that aren't quite as deep, but that's what I love the most. My secondary love language is physical touch. I love it in Nursery when the little children climb all over me and want me to hold them and want to be right there beside me. It makes me happy and I feel loved. Last week in Nursery, one of my favorite little boys was really clingy to me. He wanted to be right by me for the whole 2 hours. It just melted my heart. That really made me feel loved by him. I love hugs, they're very important for you emotionally. But physical touch isn't just hugging and kissing. There's lots of other ways. A lot of times for me, sitting close to someone I like, friends, family, etc. is good enough for me. You might ask, why is Megan writing all this down and sharing it with others? I guess maybe the reason is is because I do feel loved, but sometimes I don't feel loved by the people I love or like. Or maybe I would like to get to know someone better but am having a hard time opening myself up and am feeling really bummed about that. Whatever it is, I'm glad that I was able to get it all out, it even helps me, to see all my thoughts and feelings down on paper. So thanks for listening everyone. And I highly recommend EVERYONE to read "The Five Love Languages." It will really help you with any relationships in your life.
Since this post seems to be all about me, I thought I would post some pictures I took on Friday when it was raining. I absolutely love the rain! It makes me so happy and feel at peace. These are pictures I took and every time I look at them I get this amazing feeling inside of me :) Thank Thee Heavenly Father for wonderful things like rain, and trees, and earth, and skies.

Oh, by the way, I took these pictures from my bedroom window. I jut opened the top of the window, so there's no screen, and took this fabulous pictures!

Stage 4

I'm sure all of you have been dying to find out about Stage 4 of cleaning my room and putting things away for my mission. Just kidding. But whether you want to know the status of my room or not, here it is:

My work space.

Not too many things on the floor.

The entrance to my room.

The floor has been found!

Not much on my wall.

That pop can is still there.

Doesn't my bed and room look almost normal?

My empty green wall.

My bookshelf. The bottom two shelves are the things that I need now and may possibly take with me on my mission. The other shelves are stuff I'm leaving behind but do not have a place for them besides that bookshelf.

Pretty clean, huh?

This is where I keep my non-mission clothes.

All my mission clothes are in the closet. Except the bottom ones are clothes that are not for my mission.

You see that 8 ball? I want to take it apart. The cool thing is Mom is totally down with it :)

Here is my desk and yes I told you I'm always moving things around.

This is where I put all my shoes...and Jenny's too.

These are my favorite shoes!!! Skater shoes! I do hope to learn how to skateboard and snowboard someday.

This is my nightstand by the window.

This is my nightstand not by the window.

Feeling Smart and Silly

Today I went to the Community Health Clinic to get a shot. Boy does it hurt!!! The little prick hurt but not when she injected the stuff. But now my arm feels dead, or as my mom says, it's a dull pain. Ugh, it hurts very much. We're suppose to go mini golfing tonight for YSA; I don't know if I will play or not. It hurts very much and I can't move it whole lot without it hurting so. It's hard to drive with so I don't see how mini golfing could be much better. Besides, I'm not a huge fan of mini golf. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know I used to WORK at a mini golf place, but that's way different; I hardly played it at all. I'll play it, but it's not my most favorite thing to do, but it's cool. We'll see what I'll do; and if it's at the place where we went last year and I don't feel up to it, well I guess I could go to Subway for 2 hours and talk to my friends. I'm kind of being sarcastic if you can't tell. Just kind of. Oh yes, I remember the reason why I started this entry: on my facebook, under the status thingy, I wrote: My name just got shot! Except I didn't write 'My name.' I put my actual name. Anyways, I just got shot! By a needle :) I know I'm silly :)

Me: "What's that sound?"
Mother: "That's my feet."
Me: "No, it sounds like grass."
Mother (laughing): Grass? I've never heard grass before."

Yes, that was my shining moment...and I failed, miserably. Ah, well, life will go on!

For the past three days I have been listening to The Chronicles of Narnia. It has been most fun and interesting. Becky, you were, as usual :) books do make you feel smarter. And as Mother said, books and movies and music and etc. really do influence you. For yesterday I had made an omelet and my own pancake, just enough for one. And I was very hungry. And if any of you know me, you know what that means. So it was the books that influenced me to make my own breakfast, I just know it was!

Alright, I'm sure some of you dislike it very much when I post something from Youtube, especially Becky, since she can never see it. But that just means that you can look at them all when you move! Just being facetious I am. But you may be able to view it on Google's Video page; that's what we do now since our flash drive isn't working so Youtube says we need to download it and I do a million times but it's never there. But this video that I am about to post is a favorite song of mine. I love these type of songs and so I will ask you to sit back, grab some popcorn if you like, and enjoy this wonderful music video; well at least I think it is wonderful.

And now I will say, "Farewell!"
And yes, you guessed it

Stage 3

Okey dokey; so cleaning and organizing my room is taking a lot of time, but I'm not complaining, no, not at all. Mom and I agreed that every day I will spend at least 15 minutes on my room. That way I'm working on it every day and I may end up working on it longer. Last night I probably worked on it for an hour, I can't remember. Here are pictures I took last night. The thing about cleaning and organizing my room, is I move things around a lot and sometimes I put my junk on a shelf just to get it off the floor. Acutally that's a lie, I do it to make Mom happy, so she can actually see the floor, I could care less, well, sometimes. I have a lot pictures today and you know what they say about pictures: they say a thousand words. So here you have lots of thousands of words.

You can see the floor!!!

Doesn't my working area look a little neater?

My closet/clothes area.

Like my new luggage I bought?

My desk...still really messy.

The bottom shelf is where I put all my 'every day' things; books, journals, planner, etc. That shelf is for Mom, so she can actually see the floor and walk on it too!

Remember this is where I put all my clothes? Not anymore. Mom kind of did some cleaning of her own. This is socks and underwear and other junk as well.

Remember this chair? I finally cleaned up all those paper scraps underneath it. Now it has clothes on it. Isn't that what a dresser is for?

This is my desk chair, or was, now it's my 'dresser/closet.'

I found a new spot for my clothes. See, I told you that I move things around.

Sure is messy.

This is my nightstand by the window.

And this is my nightstand not by the window.

Stay tuned for Stage 4 coming soon not to a theater near you.

Hello Little Friend

This is a video I took of a squirrel out on our deck a few days ago. I tapped my fingers on the window, as you can hear, he looked up at me but didn't really move except when he turned around. I thought he was so cute and had to post it!

OK Go - A Million Ways

Back when I worked at Trafalga, one of my co-workers had a really cool CD mix. On it was this song, of which at that time, I had no idea what the song was called or who sang it. But then recently I found it and am uber excited about it. This song reminds me of my old boss at Trafalga, Jesse. He told me that they did some kind of weird dancing in their music video. Good times, good times. This is for him :)

A Million Ways Lyrics

sit back, matter of fact
teasing, toying, turning, chatting, charming
hissing, playin the crowd

play that song again
another couple caught up in a nod, a glance, a half-hearted bow

oh such grace
oh such beauty
and lipstick and callous
and fishnets and malice

oh darlin' you're a million ways to be cruel
(one zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)
you're a million ways to be cruel
(one zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)
you're a million ways to be cruel

i should, i wish i could, maybe if you were i would
a list of standard issue regrets
one last eighty proof, slouchin' in the corner booth
baby, it's as good as it gets

oh such grace
oh such beauty
so precious, suspicious, and charming and vicious
oh darlin'
you're a million ways
oh darlin'

you're a million ways to be cruel
(one zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)
you're a million ways to be cruel
(one zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)
you're a million ways to be cruel

oh darlin'
oh darlin'
you're a million ways
oh darlin'
oh darlin'
you're a million ways

oh darlin'
oh darlin'
you're a million ways to be
oh oh oh oh oh

(one zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)
you're a million ways to be cruel
you're a million ways to be cruel
(one zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)
you're a million ways to be cruel
you're a million ways to be cruel
(one zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)
you're a million ways to be cruel
(one zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)
you're a million ways to be cruel
(one zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)

oh darlin' you're a million ways to be cruel.

Stage 2

This is stage 2 of my messy room.

This is the area in which I live

My dresser, full of collectibles and random junk.

My 'trash can.' I throw it wherever when I don't know where my real trash can is, or I'm too lazy to get it.

This is where I put my clothes. Great place, huh?

My closet/clothes area

This is what my bed usually looks like when I wake up. My sheets are always out of wack, who knew?

My nightstand by the window.

Just Being Silly

I thought this was a pretty cool picture

"I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!"

"Hey what's up? I'm just so so."

"Mmm mmm mmm...this is SO DELICIOUS!!!"

"I got my groove on."
