An Unlikely Pair

sometimes the two most unlikely people are the best together and for each other. So keep your eyes open and don't be so picky or narrow-minded. Don't settle for less, but don't reach so high that you the only thing you reach is space and rocks, and maybe an alien. You may 'hate' someone at first, but who knows, he/she may be that someone you want to spend the rest of your life with :)

Music - the heartbeat of LIFE

music can tell a story, music sets the mood, music is the heart beat of life. you can have a movie with no talking, just music, and the message would be able to get across. the music lets us know that it's scary, that it's funny, that it's serious, that it's love, that it's a special moment. music is our biggest cue in life. even for spiritual things. it helps us to know what to expect or what to feel or what to get ready for, it helps us to prepare for the 'unknown.' it helps us know the mood, the setting, even the time frame/era.

Finding the Adventure in the Simple Every Day Mundane Stuff That Makes Life :)

what makes it fun is enjoying the simple every day things of life and being grateful. seeing the adventure in your own backyard. sure, rexburg is small and there's not a lot of stuff to do that is ready at our hands, but we can have a fun time with great memories if we but open our immagination - remember how much fun you used to have when you were a kid? You could be anything you wanted and you could do anything you wanted. All you needed was immagination, sure, friends help, and maybe some props, but immagination is key. I think that's why I love being so silly, it's like being a kid forever.

my friend and i have so much fun and there is nothing grand we do, we just enjoy the simple, every day, mundane things of life. Like the library. Boy is it fun to look at the books and then blog about them :) Try something new today and have fun in the simple things :)

Looking and Feeling Cute :)

Last night I took some pictures of myself because I thought I looked so cute and I wanted to remember it and today I want to share it with all of you who read my blog. Valentines' Day was great for me yesterday. No, I do not have boyfriend, or even a guy that I am interested in, but I had fun enjoying all that the Lord gave to me yesterday, including the beautiful sunshine and clear blue skies :) I wore my new BYU-I purple sweatshirt that I had eyed earlier, around my birthday, and then finally bought on Friday, after I bought my temple clothes :) I am simply loving life and am so excited to be alive ! ! !

My dear friend Chris gave me Valentine balloons and flowers :) Yellow for friendship and peach for close friends :)

I had a lot of fun taking pictures last night :)
This is one of my favorites.

It's interesting how different my face looks from two different pictures, two different angles :)

The Break up

Today I broke up with my boyfriend, hehehe. Those of you who read this blog and who know me may think, 'What? You had a boyfriend and you didn't tell us about him?!?!?!?!?' Ok, here it is. As Jessi and I were walking home from the grocery store today - which by the way, today is a gorgeous day!!! - these thoughts came to my mind: I need to avoid sugar - wait, no! I can't avoid sugar, that's like avoiding someone, I need to confront them and let them know how I feel, so it is with sugar, I need to tell them straight up how I feel and that I'm not going to avoid 'him,' but that I'm going to break up with 'him.' And so I did :) So, technically, all this time I have had a boyfriend, hehe ;) And today I finally decided to 'break up.'

Rigoletto - One of the Bestest Fairy Tales

I just listened to this song and I just about died because of the beauty of it and all the memories and everything :)

Deep thoughts :)

I'm listening to some songs from back in the day and it brings back sooo many good memories!!! Neil listened to Erasure a lot and just now I listened to Chorus by Erasure and it was so amazing!!! I am so grateful for memories, even though they are not always perfect and 100% clear, at least we have something. Heavenly Father is so very loving and gives us so many gifts if we but open our eyes and look and see and enjoy :)

I also listened to I'm Blue, by Eiffel 65 and it was fun. I looked up the meaning of the lyrics because I like to do stuff like that and the song facts for this song was pretty cool. Check it out here.

Plus, I'm in a fabulous mood because 1. I had an awesome dream about someone who is constantly on my mind :) 2. The book, Simple Abundance, is totally helping my authentic self come out, yes I am so happy and grateful for that :) 3. I'm repenting, changing, turning to God and trying to be the daughter that He wants me to be. 4. I got a letter from my friends, Bryce, who is currently serving a mission in New York! Yeah baby! And I'm really excited to continue to write him and better develop our friendship :) 5. I did my homework last night and I got really excited to do it today, in fact, I already submitted it online! Usually I do it at night, like 9 or later...but today I did it before 3pm, that's great news for me!!! I really am so excited about life, I really do love life, yeah, sometimes I fall down, but that doesn't mean that life is over, it's a just a down/low time :) Life is a roller coaster, but I am learning that it's not as dramatic and scary as I once thought it was; instead, it's actually quite enjoyable :) It's still scary, but it's a healthy and adventurous scary - the kind that makes you get out of your comfort zone and really experience life and really feel the ocean breeze on your hot and sweaty face, but wait, you're in Rexburg, Idaho :) I love life :) And even though I may not know what all the future has to offer me, I am still looking forward to it because it is an adventure and I LOVE adventures!!!!!!!

Taken from Simple Abundance: A Day book of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach, February 7

An Artist Is Someone Who Creates
"Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how...The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark."
-Agnes De Mille
Most of us feel more secure when we play it safe. We wear a string of pearls, for example, instead of the hand-painted glass beads we glimpsed and passes up at the crafts fair. Yet it is precisely those read and purple glass beads around the neck of another woman that stop us dead in our tracks. "Wow," we mumble as we pass her on the street, "that looks fantastic." We also wonder how she knew it would.
She probably didn't. She probably just took a leap in the dark and trusted her instincts. She trusted her own sense of style. The necklace whispered "Try me!" and she listened. She played at living - in a small way to be sure, but relevant all the same - by taking a chance.
Every day we're given chances to embrace the new. It could be serving focaccia at dinner tonight instead of garlic bread. It could be choosing a pair of floral socks that make our feet want to dance, instead of the plain pair we automatically reach for. It could be trading in the headband for a short, sleek sophisticated cut that really feels right.
Psychologist Susan Jeffers suggests we "take a risk a day - one small or bold stroke that makes you feel great once you have done it." Today, take a real risk that can change your life: start thinking of yourself as an artist and your life as a work-in-progress. Works-in-progress are never perfect. But changes can be made to the rough draft during rewrites. Another color can be added to the canvas. The film can be tightened during editing. Art evolves. So does life. Art is never stagnant. Neither is life. The beautiful authentic life you are creating for yourself and those you love is your art. It's the highest art. "Since you are like no other being ever created since the beginning of time, you are incomparable," writer Brenda Ueland reminds you.
Hold that thought.
Ok, so I had to include this snippet from this book because this is one reason why I am oh so happy this joyful day, even though it's cold outside - though I hardly noticed - and it's a lot of thanks to this book and for this wonderful woman who is allowing other women to let their authentic self come out :) The lines marked in red are the ones that especially stood out to me this morning as I read them.
I am being me, Megan DeVocht and I absolutely love it!!! And this is all so new to me so of course I'm going to fall down a few times here and there and it's getting back up that really says who I am.
"Music is the heartbeat to life." Without music, life would be so dull. Music adds color to our gray lives :) Both participating in making music and also the art of listening to music and letting all of it speak to your soul, being completely open and allowing it to fill your whole being.

05 February 2011

My friend pointed out to me that it's a beautiful day and we should go outside, but I don't really want to. I'm content with staying in the library on the computer. I almost feel torn between the two. Should I stay inside all day like I do every day or should I go outside and enjoy the warmth from the sun? Decisions decisions.

Handicapped

Chris, Carlee, and I went to the ER because Chris fell and hurt his hip and then we went to the grocery store and this is what happened. Enjoy!!!
