Gratitude :)

I signed up to receive the "Secret Scrolls," emails from Rhona Byrne. Yesterday, I checked my email and I saw that I got one and it was an amazing one. She said that we should find 100 things to be grateful a day and if we do this then we will find a the beautiful treasure of gratitude. I've heard of people being thankful and writing them down and what not, but I've never heard of some one thinking of 100 things to be grateful in one day every day. This is something that I wish to do. I know that it is right and the more I show gratitude for what I have, the more beauty I will see in this world. I am so grateful for people who share their thoughts, insights, inspirations, etc. It helps me to be a better person. I hope that you can also find 100 things to be grateful every day and see the beauty in this world :)

North Star

What is a North Star? you may ask. Well, let us explore a little to see and know for ourselves.

If we go to dictionary.com we find that is says to look up Polaris. Okay, so we look that up and it says that it is the polestar or North Star "of the second magnitude situated close to the north pole of the heavens, in the constellation Ursa Minor: the outermost star in the handle of the Little Dipper." Okay, but what does this really mean?

I suggest that we look up polestar. I really like what dictionary.com says: polestar - "something that serves as a guiding principle;" "something that is the center of attention or attraction." Hmm....this is starting to make sense. "the brightest star that appears nearest to either celestial pole at any particular time."

Our 'north star' is something that guides us in the right direction; something that is in the center of our lives; something that we think about often; something that is always brightest and close to a celestial pole.

One of my friends said: "When you find something that doesn't change then you have a 'north star,' something reliable that can guide you."
My friend also said: "The people that have a north star will lead strong influential lives."
He then told me:
Two questions you have to ask yourself:
1. Do you have a "North Star"? (unchanging guide)
2. Do you follow your star?

Find your North Star, follow it, and live a strong influential life.

Wisdom

From a wise friend:
My closing thought for the day: I think we are different pieces of who we are meant to be for eternity at different times in our lives...I am amazed at the great things the Lord brings to pass with such imperfect and incomplete beings....but I am beginning to understand the Atonement now :)

Poem

Don't be afraid I'll take your hand
I'll be by your side all the days long
You help me and I'll help you
And together we'll make it through
Together we'll make it Home

Letter

This is a letter that i wrote to someone and I wanted to remember it forever and always, so I decided to post it up here, but I have changed any names that are mentioned in this letter, so as to allow privacy to them.

Dear Beatrice,
First off, you are doing so great! This mortal life, away from our loving Father in Heaven is so hard. We're all at different levels and I think that we sometimes forget that. That's one of the reasons why we can never compare ourselves to other people. The only person you can compare yourself to, is your old self. Day to day we change and grow. You are not the same person that you were yesterday, even though you may think you are or that your life is so mundane and the same that you don't change. But that is a lie. Even our physical body changes, so physically, you are not the same. Anytime we make a decision, and a decision can be as simple as our thoughts, we change, we grow, we progress, thus, we aren't the same as we were before and we can never go back to it; only forward, only onward. And we don't have to be sad that it will never be the same because things will only and always get better. And our loving Father in Heaven has given us a wonderful gift: memories. We can remember the good times and still enjoy them, even if it's only for a little bit and it can be with friends and family, or just in our mind. Just because we experience something in our mind does not mean it's not really, that it's not our reality.
It's interesting, Beatrice, because I had no intentions of writing this letter. I went to see a teacher, but heard that he was talking with someone, so I sat down, pulled out this sheet of paper and thought, "Hmm...I should write a letter to someone. Who should I write to? I know! I'll write to Beatrice." And then this letter happened. It is interesting to me how things work out in God's plan. I mean, not that I doubt God, but that how well and terrific, and well perfect His plan is! If we listen to the promptings of the Spirit and we do what He tells us to do, things work out, in ways that we never even dreamed of, as well as things we thought were impossible.
I like to think of my life as a great puzzle, trying to find the right pieces, all fitting together, with a border (edge pieces). I am seeing how much God's Hands really are in my life. He is in my life every single day. And not just once, either, but multiple times. Like, I have this great friend, Pedro, and I met him at work and even though I only worked there for less than a month, I found my reason for working there, BUT not until a month or two later, when I saw him at the store, got his number, then later invited him over that night of play games and I looked at him and BOOM!!! That's when I realized my purpose for working that job; it was to meet Pedro. We've hung out a few times and we really both enjoy one an other's company. Just little things I see that I know is God's Hands moving me here, moving me there, to help others, and to help myself. I don't think that at this moment in time I can express how I feel about this because it is oh so very deep inside of me. We may not know why the Spirit tells us to do somethings, but if we don't do them, we will always wonder, "What if?" Plus, by following the Spirit, even if we don't understand why He told us to do, whatever, we will feel good inside, knowing we were obedient, and that we trusted in the Lord.
My math teacher gave a little devotional in class the other day and this is something he said: When you think about others discouragement goes away. When you hit rock bottom, there's no place to look except for up (Heavenly Father). Discouragement is one of Satan's greatest struggles for us. Discouragement does not come from God. And wanting to take your life to be with God is not from God either. He put us on this fallen earth for a reason. He will call you home when it's time, not before.
That's all. Love, Megan

Your Worth, Despite What Happens In This Life

Keep positive, that's the key. When life is hard, or your 'hand' isn't a great one, or you've done something wrong in your life, stay positive. Don't think about the mess, the problems, the mistakes, the heartaches, the sins; just focus on becoming better. Learning from your experience: Where do I go from here? What can I learn from this experience? How can I help others? How can I help myself? What lessons can I learn? Can I change? Can I draw closer to Christ? What is the purpose of this experience?
Some trials come from God, some from the adversary, some are just a part of this life, and some are brought on by ourselves. But no matter what happens, really, no matter what happens, we are still worth the same. I was listening to the K-LOVE radio station and heard this beautiful analgoy: Let's say that I have a 20-dollar bill, it's worth 20 dollars, right? Would you accept it if I gave it to you? Most likely. Okay, so my 20-dollar bill gets crumpled up, are you still going to take it? It gets a little ripped and teared, will you still take it? It falls in the mud and is dirty now; will you still accept it? Yes. Why? The reason is because no matter what happens to that 20-dollar bill it is still worth 20 dollars.
It's the same for us, children of God. We may get crumpled, or ripped and teared, or dirty, but we are still worth the same. We are worth so much in the eyes of God. We are His children, of course He loves us and wants to help us and heal us. Bad things have happened, bad things are happening, and more bad things will happen, but remember that YOU are still worth the same. YOU are His child and He loves YOU and cares for YOU. Don't let anyone or anything ever tell you differently. YOU are unique because YOU are His.
You can still let your light shine even when you feel like all you have left are a few embers, there's still a little light left in you and let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
