I Have Been Burning Things Lately

Last Friday, I put the kettle on to make hot chocolate. Emily and I were in the kitchen talking; my back was to the burner. I think I turned and Emily says, "You're on fire! You're on fire!" I say, "Where? Put it out, put it out! Get it off!" It wasn't that bad. Emily got it out, but now my sweatshirt is slightly burnt :) Then Mom and Dad come out to see what is the matter, but it's nogthing.

On Monday, I was helping Mom make Lasagna for dinner for the Missionaries. I was cooking the noodles. I kept smelling the smell of somthing burning. Mom said it was nothing, or just the burner. Earlier, I had put the pot of pasta on the front burner; Mom told me to put it on the back one because it would never heat up on time (it was a lot smaller than the pot). I remember putting a lid on the burner I had first turned on. Anyways, I picked up the lid to get it out of the way and it was HOT!!! My hands and fingers fiddled away with it and then it dropped to the floor. That was funny too! But I burned my left wrist and my right middle finger and pointer finger. I kept having to put my right fingers into cold water because they were so hot. As of today, my fingers are practically fine. My wrist, however, is kind of gross. It's a larger burn than on my fingers. But I think I'll live :)

So, those are my stories of burning things lately.

MORE LDS DAILY GEMS!!!

"We can have eternal life if we want it, but only if there is nothing else we want more."
(Bruce C. Hafen, "The Atonement: All for All," Ensign, May 2004, 98)

"You have a choice. You can wring your hands and be consumed with concern for the future or choose to use the counsel the Lord has given tol ive with peace and happiness in a world a wash with evil. If you choose to concentrate on the dark side, this is what you will see. . . . Now the brighter side. Despite pockets of evil, the world overall is majestically beautiful, filled with many good and sincere people. God has provided a way to live in this world and not be contaminated by the degrading pressures evil agents spread throughout it. You can live a virtuous, productive,righteous life by following the plan of protection created by your Fatherin Heaven: His plan of happiness."
(Richard G. Scott, "How to Live Well amid Increasing Evil," Ensign, May 2004, 100)

"The Fall was not a disaster. It wasn't a mistake or an accident.It was a deliberate part of the plan of salvation. We are God's spirit'offspring,' sent to earth 'innocent' of Adam's transgression. Yet our Father's plan subjects us to temptation and misery in this fallen world as the price to comprehend authentic joy. Without tasting the bitter, we actually cannot understand the sweet. We require mortality's discipline and refinement as the 'next step in[our] development' toward becoming like our Father. But growth means growing pains. It also means learning from our mistakes in a continual process made possible by the Savior's grace, which He extends both during and 'after all we can do' (2 Nephi25:23)."
(Bruce C. Hafen, "The Atonement: All for All," Ensign, May 2004, 97)

"Marriage is meant to be and must be a loving, binding, harmoniousr elationship between a man and a woman. When a husband and a wife understand that the family is ordained of God and that marriage can befilled with promises and blessings extending into the eternities,separation and divorce would seldom be a consideration in the Latter-day Saint home. Couples would realize that the sacred ordinances and covenants made in the house of the Lord provide the means whereby they can return to the presence of God."
(W. Douglas Shumway, "Marriage and Family: Our Sacred Responsibility," Ensign, May 2004, 95)

"Marriage is the foundry for social order, the fountain of virtue, andthe foundation for eternal exaltation. Marriage has been divinely designated as an eternal and everlasting covenant (see D&C 132:19). Marriage is sanctified when it is cherished and honored in holiness. That union is not merely between husband and wife; it embraces a partnership with God (see Matthew 19:6). 'Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other' ("The Family: AProclamation to the World," paragraph 6). Children born of that marital union are 'an heritage of the Lord' (Psalm 127:3). Marriage is but the beginning bud of family life; parenthood is its flower. And that bouquet becomes even more beautiful when graced with grandchildren. Families may become as eternal as the kingdom of God itself (see D&C132:19-20)."
(Russell M. Nelson, "Nurturing Marriage," Ensign, May 2006, 36-37)

Some Cool Thoughts

I got this from an email and I liked it so much that I am posting it on here so I can delete that email :) Plus, it is really great.

"Be completly humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace." Eph 4: 2-3

"The spirit is one of the hardest things there is about living the gospel. The spirit does not shout at us or pound us on the shoulder, the scriptures say the voice of the Lord is still and small and it whispers. It takes time to learn how to recognize it."

"Work and the Glory Vol. 9"

Personal Course Corrections

Personal Course Corrections
"[The] will to go forward toward our Savior sometimes requires on-the-spot repentance. It's recognizing we've made mistakes or haven't done what we could to encourage or help someone. These personal course corrections in thought, action, or word are essential for all who desire to come unto Christ. They represent individual choices about how we will touch each other literally andf iguratively."

Random Thoughts

This is great:

The Savior's Love for Us
"The Savior's example of going the extra mile to find His lost sheep is evident throughout the scriptures. . . . The Good Shepherd knew when one of His sheep was missing. . . . He searched for that which was lost. . . . We also know that He did not give up, . . . and when He returned, the lost sheep was safely on His shoulders."
Topic: Love (Mervyn B. Arnold, "Strengthen Thy Brethren," Ensign, May 2004, 47)

Sharing the good news of the gospel

God's Relationship with Us
"God has known you individually . . . for a long, long time (see D&C93:23). He has loved you for a long, long time. He not only knows the names of all the stars (see Psalm 147:4; Isaiah 40:26); He knows your names and all your heartaches and your joys! By the way, you have never seen an immortal star; they finally expire. But seated by you tonight are immortal individuals--imperfect but who are, nevertheless, 'trying to be like Jesus'!"
Topic: Immortality (Neal A. Maxwell, "Remember How Merciful the Lord Hath Been," Ensign, May 2004, 46)

The Future
"In my quiet moments, I think of the future with all of its wonderful possibilities and with all of its terrible temptations. I wonder what will happen to you in the next 10 years. Where will you be? What will you be doing? That will depend on the choices you make, some of which may seem unimportant at the time but which will have tremendous consequences."
Topic: Choices (Gordon B. Hinckley, "Stay on the High Road," Ensign, May 2004, 112-113)

When I receive these LDS Daily Gems in my email, I either read them and delete them, or I read them and post them on here. I have a lot of read messages in my inbox, so I decided to put some of those gems on here.

There is this number that always calls our house and we never answer it. They always leave us a bunch of 'beeps' on our message machine. Just a few minutes ago, the phone rang, I picked up the phone, saw that it was them, and put the phone back down. I think when I put the phone back down, it bounced off and back on again. Dad came into the office where I was and looked at the other phone and I told him what I did. Then he says, "They think we're a fax machine." It was awesome!!! I liked what he said so much that I wrote this little story about it. What you just read :)

Feeling Anxious

I'm excited to serve a mission; though also scared and nervous as well. This is the biggest and hugest step in my life that I've ever done. Everyone expects me to be cool and normal about it. It's big, big for me. I've always been the little stinker running around with Jenny. Now I'll be serving the Lord full-time for 18 months. I really want to, but that doesn't mean that I'm not scared about doing it either. I haven't been myself and yet I have been myself. At times, I'm really anxious and I don't know why. I know I've only received my mission call a week ago and I'm glad of that. I think once my neighbor receives his mission call, which I think he did today, but he's not home yet, I'll be able to breathe a little easier. I don't feel like myself today, but I don't not feel like myself today. It feels odd. Like two of me is trying to live at the exact same time. I don't know what I feel. Or how to feel.

A friend of mine is throwing a little party in celebration in receiving my mission call.

Sorry, I was interupted by my neighbor. Which was very good indeed. For he did receive his mission call and came over to tell us the good news!!!

Actually, I do feel a little better. Maybe tonight will be good. Even though I didn't invite all of friends, it will do for now. Perhaps when I'm not as anxious as I am now, I, or someone else, will throw another party. You can't have too many parties to intend to :)

Well, I must go get ready now, since I'm in no fashion to mingle with friends.

Until next time

Building the Lord's Kingdom

Cooperation without Compromise

"We must do all that is required in moving forward the work of the Lord in building His kingdom in the earth. We can never compromise the doctrine which has come through revelation, but we can live and work with others, respecting their beliefs and admiring their virtues, joining hands in opposition to the sophistries, the quarrels, the hatred--those perils which have been with man from the beginning."
Topic: respect (Gordon B. Hinckley, "The Dawning of a Brighter Day," Ensign, May 2004, 84)

I just really liked this, so I wanted to post it on my blog, my online jouranl.

Faith and Trust

Daily Gems: Faith and Trust
"[Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego] knew that they could trust God - even if things didn't turn out the way they hoped. They knew that faith is more than mental assent, more than an acknowledgment that God lives. Faith is total trust in Him. "Faith is believing that although we do not understand all things, He does. Faith is knowing that although our power is limited, His is not. Faith in JesusChrist consists of complete reliance on Him."
(Topic: faith) (Dennis E. Simmons, "But If Not . . .," Ensign, May 2004, 73)

I think it's totally cool that they could trust God, enough that they knew things might not turn out they way they wanted them to. I want to be able to be that faithful; it will be awesome when I can trust in the Lord that much.

I read this earlier today and it really hit me; then I wanted to post it on here but when I tried it didn't work. But now it does but the feelings I had earlier are no longer with me; I can't remember excatly the thought that hit me. What a shame.

I LOVE to Learn!!!

I have come to discover that I LOVE to learn! I love reading little news on MSN Homepage, articles in Reader's Digest, books from the library, anything really. Something else I've come to realize is when I don't understand something or know what something is, I research it. Not like a real long research, 3-page worthy research, but just enough so I can get the basics of what it means, or is, or whatever. That is why getting DSL Internet was a great and wise and wonderful decision. Because I have found myself constantly thinking of new things I have learned and wondering about other things. I am also not a very good speller :) I mean, my vocabulary isn't very strong, or whatever you want to say for it. Dictionary.com is a great site which I probably visit every time I'm online. And on facebook, I have added the Dictionary.com Word a Day Application and it is totally cool because everytime I get on facebook I can learn at least one new word for today. I love going to the library to even just look at the books and get a little something from that. I really enjoy learning.
As I was writing a message to my sister via facebook, I wanted to write a adjective for myself, but I had no idea how to spell it so to Dictionary.com I went! And I also learned how to actually spell it and I like the word so I am posting the link to that word. Have fun with it and do you think that is a good adjective for me?

I Feel A Change Coming Over Me

Everyday I get a LDS Daily Gem; a little thought for the day type of thing. I really liked today's so I am going to post it on here.

(Mervyn B. Arnold, "Strengthen Thy Brethren," Ensign, May 2004, 47)

I really like this because it shows that the Savior really does know each and every one of us. He knows when we are lost, or when we are missing. He searches for us and He never gives up. And when He does bring us back, we are safely on His shoulder. I just love it! I wanted to share this with others because it's so totally AWEsome!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a message I sent to Craig, Nechelle, and Katherine early this morning after our fun-filled night at YSA Activity night and IHOP. I wanted to post it on here because I thought it was funny and I really do like it when I get in those odd, totally MEGAN moods. Here it is:
Greetings
How's it going homie gee's? I had a lot of fun last night, how about you? We should do it again sometime. I need to add Ashley as my friend again, sometimes I have issues, um, I don't want to talk about it. Nechelle, you are awesome. Katherine, you've got mad driving skills, and Craig, nice hair. I'm in a really odd mood, but do you know what? It feels GREAT!!! I wish I were like this ALL the time. I should go to bed, before my fangs come out; that's when things really turn ugly. Uh, good night my friends. I'll check you out later.
-Megan aka Stir Fry
GUESS WHAT?!?!? I'm so excited about this, really :) Last night at our YSA Activity Night, we had 10 people come!!! That's a FABULOUS turnout! I really am excited. It could explain last night perhaps. But then again maybe last night happened for a few reasons, kind of thing. I finally called a friend I met at Fazoli's in Utah and left a message for him. I've been thinking about doing just that for months now. But a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt came to mind: "Do something everyday that scares you." I haven't done that for a long time. So I did it; and it felt great! And then IHOP was cool. I think I got fired up at IHOP and then the ride home was crazy. Seriously. It felt good. I don't think I've really been that way since Utah.
But I can feel a change coming over me. I'm happy; I've been down a lot lately. I feel a lot more like myself. I am so happy, you have idea! It's like all these little things are coming together and God does really watch out for you and answer your prayers! Because He heard me and is answering my prayers! Just like the thought I posted for today! So true, so true.
Today seems to be a day of much posting. I would like to post a song that my friend introduced to me. The first time I listened to the song, I didn't really like it, but now I like it a lot and I often find myself singing it.
I know God lives and He does hear and answer my prayers and yours as well. I love my Savior Jesus Christ so much! He is always there for me and never leaves me, even when I mess up so much. I am so grateful for my time on this earth now, for where I am, the people I know, and this change coming over me. Thank Thee God! I love Thee with all my heart!
I love this blog and I love myself.
I am excited for my adventures in life.
